Hi, my name is Grace Jaynes. I play the guitar, piano, and sing, and I’m the newest member of Faith Rest Drill. My whole life I sat in church, in awe, watching the band worship with their voices and instruments. I always loved music, playing instruments, and singing, but I never knew how to connect that to the ministry. When I was asked to be a part of the band in early 2022, I had no idea of the ways God would reveal Himself to me and the connection I always struggled to find. It has been the greatest honor, privilege, and blessing to bring glory to the most amazing God with fellow believers.
Psalms 150:4 – “Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.”
Psalms 95:1 – “O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.”

I am probably the least talented musician of our band. I have played the flute for years and I read music but I don’t play by ear. Sherry, Pearl and Julia write the notes on the music for me and I just have to learn the rhythm patterns which sometimes it takes me awhile and I get frustrated when I don’t pick it up quickly. I was inspired to write a few songs and I was excited when Sherry put music to the first one. It has been interesting to watch it change into more than just words but into an actual song. What seems to also have changed a little, at least I think it changed, is how our songs come to be the final song. Sherry will bring it into practice and she will have a melody (sometimes Kansas is the one with the melody) and then Pearl will help figure out if the timing should be 4/4 or 6/8, etc… We all start making suggestions after that and some stick and others get discarded and then we practice the song that way for awhile and down the road we tweak the songs or in some cases make drastic changes. There are also intros, leads and endings to figure out and which instrument will do what. Eventually it becomes a song. My song, now songs are not on Lift Me Up. The lyrics on Lift Me Up were written by Michael Weed. I pray that the songs bless everyone that hears them. I love the Lord and I am not always good about witnessing so my hope is that my witness comes out in our music.

Thank God all I every wanted to do
was serve Him. From a very young age
I believed. Not just that Jesus is
my Savior but that He called me to be
what I am today. I'm not there yet but I am moving in the right direction.
Through all my poor
decisions and failures God has found a way to get me to where I am today.
"Lift Me Up" is an album comprised of original songs that came from the
heart, mind, and soul of a group of musicians that truly love the Lord. Listen
to this CD all the way through a few times and you'll hear what I know. It will
encourage and inspire you to want to serve the Lord with gladness.
I believe the Lord has blessed everyone that has had a part in producing this work.
Let Him bless you.
